Desde el 1 al 3 de septiembre se realizó la Semana Educacional de Ciudadanía Global, un evento online y gratuito organizado por AFS Chile, Melton Foundation y Alfaduc. . En esta instancia educadores y educadoras tuvieron la oportunidad de reflexionar sobre la educación en tiempos de pandemia y post pandemia. Se abordaron temáticas como las oportunidades y desafíos de la educación para una ciudadanía democrática, repensar el currículum escolar para los tiempos actuales, la aplicación de la ciudadanía global en el aula, entre otras temáticas.
La #SemanaEducacional contó con 2 charlas abiertas, 1 panel de diálogo y 9 talleres. Quienes asistieron en los talleres recibieron una certificación proporcionada por Alfaduc que acredita su participación en esta instancia de capacitación.
Los talleres estuvieron a cargo de distintos académicos y expertos que se encargaron de hacer capacitación teóricas y prácticas.
Rodrigo Casarejos León, Director Ejecutivo de AFS Chile, inauguró el evento y dio paso a la charla “Cuatro desafíos para la educación del Chile actual”. Esta ponencia la dictó el Premio Nacional de Historia (2016), Julio Pinto, quien destacó cómo la pandemia ha obligado a repensar la tarea de educadoras y educadores, tanto en el plano local como en el global.
La segunda jornada comenzó con el panel de diálogo “Aterrizando la ciudadanía global a espacios educativos”. moderó esta instancia donde tres educadoras compartieron sus experiencias con nuevas prácticas educativas e ideas que fomentan el desarrollo de la ciudadanía global a través de competencias globales, el respeto personal y el respeto por un otro.

El cierre de la semana estuvo a cargo de Karen Jiménez, fundadora de Alfaduc. También contó con la charla “Repensar el futuro de la educación a través de la ciudadanía global” dictada por Romina Kasman, especialista de Programa en la Oficina Regional de Educación para América Latina y el Caribe (OREALC) de UNESCO. Durante su ponencia la experta señaló que: “para asegurar un futuro sostenible, debemos repensar modelos de desarrollo y reducir desigualdades en todos ámbitos”.
