We, at the Melton Foundation, believe that global perspectives can enable local impact, and with the upcoming 28th Annual Global Citizenship Conference, intend to connect confident young leaders willing to challenge the status quo and reach out for a better tomorrow!
The Global Solvers Co-Lab is a space to support the development of young SDG practitioners through a face-to-face exchange of ideas, practices and approaches. Designed around peer-learning and -impact, it strives to be a platform where emerging change agents from across the globe can explore, express, learn, collaborate and commit to concrete steps to advance sustainable development at the local and global level. The first Co-Lab took place from 22 – 27 September 2018 in Aubervilliers, France, leading to ripples of social impact, as summarized below.
When it comes to problem-solving and challenging power structures, we can sometimes underestimate the power of civic action. We as citizens, both local and global, hold a level of strength and wisdom that can cause real revolutions – especially when we join together. It is time to release the 'power of togetherness' and the Melton Foundation's contribution to the Bridge 47 Global Event at the International Civil Society Week 2019 in Belgrade, Serbia is a testament to the same.
There are 7.7 billion people who share this planet. Just think of the impact all these people could have if they worked together, from climate action to eradication of poverty: It would be huge! So, how again do I change the world from where I stand?
From 15-20 March 2019 in Berlin, Germany, we convened our newest batch of Melton Fellows for the New Fellows’ Orientation (NFO) - a five day workshop focussed around intercultural exposure and development, harnessing inner and outer skills, social innovation and design thinking impactful projects and earmarking actionable ‘Commitments to Action’ around the Sustainable Development Goals. Led by experienced trainers, and seven project partners, this year’s event marked an effectual and authentic highlight on our Fellows’ journey to becoming global problem solvers.
