Our Grants Give Life To Your Global Citizenship Project!

The Melton Foundation empowers Fellows to engage in projects that address global issues collaboratively. Often, motivated Fellows cannot unleash their potential because of a lack of funding.

To solve that problem, the Melton Foundation offers ACTION GRANTS year-round to help Fellows bring their dreams to fruition. MF Action Grants have a long and successful history of providing monetary support enabling Fellows and the Foundation to grow together while growing the MF’s footprint of global citizenship impact.

In addition to tangible benefits for individual Fellows or groups, Melton Foundation grants enable different approaches and creative solutions to today’s challenges within local and global societies. In working together with grantees, we help develop the projects, monitor progress, and measure success to ensure that the projects have maximum impact.

In the past five years alone, we have given grants to 35+ Melton Fellows for amounts ranging from $50 to $2000. With the support of our grants, Melton Fellows have been able to conduct impact-oriented projects, impart knowledge and skills at workshops, explore and experience different cultures and backgrounds, empower local communities, or address global issues such as climate change.

Further, the Melton Foundation provides access to its organizational CROWDFUNDING platform on GlobalGiving, one of the world’s leading crowdfunding communities. As a vetted and trusted organization, the Melton Foundation offers its Fellows the unique opportunity to leverage this platform in order to secure financial resources for their projects through crowdfunding.

Whether you want to apply for a MF Action Grant, leverage the MF’s presence on GlobalGiving for your crowdfunding campaign, or both: the MF Grant Committee is looking forward to receiving your application! A panel of experts from diverse areas will assess your application, work with you to strengthen your proposal, and offer continued support and guidance as you’re carrying out your grant project.

Our Grant Committee

All grant applications undergo a rigorous assessment process that benchmarks strength, tangibility and practicability to determine which applications meet our competitive selection criteria. A grant committee composed of Melton Fellows from diverse backgrounds and regions spearheads this process. The cultural and professional diversity of this committee ensures that all grant proposals are assessed through a prism of multiple perspectives so that the plurality of interests and convictions that live within our Fellows network is considered.

The Grant Committee is the designated body to oversee and manage the assessment of all Action Grants issued by the Melton Foundation. It ensures that all grant proposals undergo a rigorous assessment process that benchmarks strength, tangibility and practicability to determine which applications meet the selection criteria. The Grant Committee furthermore evaluates the subsequent performance of those grants by the individuals or groups who receive them. In addition, the Grant Committee is responsible to vet all projects proposed for crowdfunding on the Melton Foundation’s partner platform GlobalGiving.

<Meet the Grant Committee 2023-25>

Established in 2007, the Grant Committee assembles selected experts from the MF community and the MF’s Executive Office who commit their professional expertise and global citizenship experience to help evaluate grant proposals and support grant seekers along their social impact journey. Members of the Grant Committee fulfill their commitment on a voluntary basis and help ensure flexibility, professionalism, quality control and adequate support throughout the granting process. The cultural and professional diversity of this committee ensures that all grant proposals are assessed through a prism of multiple perspectives so that the plurality of interests and convictions that live within our Fellows network is considered.
